Long Term Plans
Our Long-Term Plans provide an overview of the curriculum pupils will experience across each year group, showing how subjects, themes and key areas of learning are organised throughout the year.
Alongside these, class teachers use Medium-Term Plans as working documents. These set out the progression of learning through each term and help ensure that teaching is carefully sequenced, purposeful and builds securely on what pupils already know.
This planning identifies the key knowledge and vocabulary pupils need to learn, alongside opportunities to revisit and embed prior learning through retrieval practice. Teachers anticipate possible misconceptions and consider how these can be identified and addressed within lessons.
Planning also focuses carefully on task design. Rather than simply considering what pupils will do, teachers begin by identifying what we want pupils to know, understand and remember, before selecting activities that will best support this learning.
Each sequence of learning builds towards a meaningful end product or opportunity to share learning, enabling pupils to apply and demonstrate what they have learned and to celebrate their achievements with others.
Together, our long- and medium-term planning ensures that the curriculum is ambitious, coherent and carefully sequenced, while allowing teachers to respond to the needs, interests and prior knowledge of the pupils they teach.
