Phonics & Reading
Our overarching intent for Reading at Ravenbank Primary School is to promote high standards by equipping pupils with strong phonics knowledge and reading skills, and to develop their love of literature through by promoting reading for pleasure.
The teaching of early reading and phonics is taught via the Read Write Inc. scheme. Upon completing the scheme, children continue their reading journey via a wider range of decodable texts from a variety of sources, in order to access a diverse range of writing styles and genre.
